Director Ali Tamadon set up a camera in the homes of various Iranian families, all from very different walks of life, and asked them the simple question: “Are you happy?” He let the camera run as they described their lives, homes, relationships and their understanding of what it means to be happy or to seek happiness.

Filmed in Tehran and Esfahan, this fascinating documentary is filled with moments of great beauty, wit and sadness and, thankfully, a considerable amount of happiness.

A simple idea, beautifully executed.
