The txalaparta is a unique Basque musical instrument, similar to a xylophone, played by two people simultaneously. This film follows two txalaparta players who travel to collaborate with the nomadic people of India, Lapland, the Sahara and Mongolia.

Crossing deserts and frozen wastelands to join some of the world’s most isolated communities, they seek out new sounds, new ways of creating music, fusing their own work with that of the other cultures they meet as a dynamic means of cross-cultural communication.

A multi award winning documentary featuring extraordinary music filmed in stunning surroundings.

Followed by director Raul de la Fuente and producer Amaia Remirez in conversation with Patrick Hazard (Director, LIDF)

The Courthouse Cinema is found inside The Courthouse Hotel, 19-21 Great Marlborough Street, W1F 7HL (1min from Oxford Circus tube)
