Obcina
Director: Bjorn Reinhardt, Germany, 2007, 80mins
Venue: Curzon Soho
UK Premiere

Obcina is a small village hidden in the mountains of Romania.
During the summer, dozens of Ruthenians live and work here, but in winter only one family stays to brave the harsh weather conditions.
They stay because they have always stayed. But when a night of drunkenness leaves the eldest son with frostbitten fingers it throws the survival of the entire family into doubt.
A sparse, meditative reflection on one family’s fight against the elements.
