She Should Have Gone to the Moon
Director: Ulrike Kubatta, 2007, UK, 58mins
Venue: Renoir Cinema

In the early 1960s, pilot and pioneer Jerri Truhill became one of the so-called Mercury 13 – a group of women selected by NASA to become the country’s first female astronauts.
Set against a momentous era in American history, this is an intimate portrait of the sharp-witted Truhill and explores a unique chapter in American culture and society.
Stylised, dreamlike sequences are interwoven with archive material from NASA and interviews with Truhill herself, a woman who refused to be constrained by the era she lived in or the industry she worked in.
Presented by the director.
