Red Sands
Bullfighting has always divided opinion: many see it as simple animal cruelty, but it undoubtedly requires grace and elegance and is part of an ancient tradition.
Red Sands provides a poetic montage of the Spanish San Fermin Festival: the encierro or running of the bulls, the fights, the fighters, the customs, the crowds, the excitement.
Driven by a delicate musical score, the film portrays an older Spain battling against a younger, more dynamic generation.
A visually striking and intensely emotional look at a tradition that many even in Spain would rather pretend didn’t exist.
