Supermen of Malegaon

UK Premiere
10:00 Saturday 4 April 2009 at British Museum (BP Theatre)
Tickets: £3
The box office has now closed for this film.

Malegaon, tucked away in the centre of India, is a region fraught with communal tension and economic problems. Yet it houses a tiny film industry that churns out quirky, low-budget, socially aware and notoriously funny spoofs.
And the industry has ambitions. They’re ready to take on one of cinema’s iconic figures: prepare yourself for Superman, Malegaon-style.
But making a film here is never easy, requiring cunning, ingenuity, and, apparently, a variety of bizarre and hysterical schemes.
Funny, tragic and contemplative, this film will leave you with a little of Malegaon’s own very special character.
