The box office has now closed for this film.

The vastness and nothingness of the sea is the unseen backdrop to this powerful evocation of grief and loss, set on the North Wales coast in the seaside town of Llandudno. The pier is the centrepiece, an iconic symbol of fun and carefree childish pleasures. As dawn breaks and the pier begins to come to life, another person’s story is drawing to its close.

The rhythmic preparation of the fairground rides for the fun of the day ahead is counter-pointed by the desperate journey of the narrator to get to Llandudno in time to say goodbye.
