In The Dark
In The Dark is a unique organisation dedicated to celebrating and enriching the culture of radio documentary in the UK. As part of LIDF 2010′s conversation in documentary In The Dark will host a series of live “listenings”, discussions and Q&A’s, that will allow audiences to close their eyes and open their ears to a world of aural story telling.
In an age when the image dominates, In The Dark’s programme of events explores how the craft of radio feature-making has continued to evolve both inside and outside Britain. Running alongside LIDF’s programme of films and photography, it will ask how story-telling through sound continues to enrich documentary culture as a whole.
Among the international guests will be Canadian independent producer, Chris Brookes; Norwegian Radio’s Head of the Radio Documentaries, Berit Hedemann; and British composer, sound designer and radio producer, Nina Perry. Each will be presenting their work and taking part in Q&A’s, as well as a discussion on the crafted feature in the digital age.
Curating and chairing the main events is one of the UK’s leading independent radio producers, Alan Hall (Falling Tree Productions).
Close your eyes, open you ears.
