The Invisible City Workshop
The Invisible City Workshop aims to provide an overview of documentary theory and practice, while devising and telling contemporary London stories through documentary film.
The central themes are the character of urban experience, how to encounter the city, thinking critically and artistically about everyday life, public spaces, and social interaction.
You will devise film, narrative, and participatory means of exploring the Invisible City, so that these ideas can be illuminated, used, discovered and shared by others.
The workshop is experimental, and aims to broaden theoretical horizons. It will provide access to the core concepts of documentary filmmaking via significant films and texts, as well as offering an opportunity for content-rich insights from key speakers on London and the built environment, as well as professional filmmakers.
The films made during the workshop will be presented at the LIDF 2012 as an ongoing portrait of the city.
