Where the Sun Doesn’t Rush

UK Premiere
Matej Bobrik | | 18 mins

A small village in Slovakia consists almost entirely of the elderly. With nothing much in town to occupy the residents, their lives seem to revolve around the public announcements that ring out from speakers affixed to poles and houses. The most important news of the season: a new funeral director is needed for the crowded, unkempt graveyard. Who will get the job? Who wants it? A portrait of the slow death of a village, where the old times are already gone and the new ones have not yet arrived. Beautifully captured by Brobik's camera, Where the Sun Doesn't Rush is a film Brobik made as a student at the Polish National Film School.

H2O

UK Premiere
Tomasz Wolski | | 8 mins

A documentary by Tomasz Wolski that focuses on a slow, fragmentary observation of a small part of reality. It centre is in the market square of a small town somewhere in the south of Poland. A place where three springs of water have their origins, only several metres away from each other. A camera records the reactions of passers-by and interestingly, in the majority of cases, the behaviour is totally different by each of the springs.

The director, Jakub Stożek, accompanies Karolina - the eldest - on her journey to Paris, where she is to meet a mother that she knows only from a voicemail message, left on the phone she never answers. Will the daughter be able to establish a bond with the woman she has not seen for fourteen years?
