In a laboratory in France, researchers grapple with the tricky task of trying precisely to describe the shape of… well, everything.
How do you accurately describe the shape of a rabbit, for example? To someone who’s never seen one.
Or a leaf? Or an oyster?
And once you start down this path of reductive description, where do you stop? Why does sand sing? (yes, it really does). And why doesn’t it sing now? How are sand dunes formed? What is the best way to portray disorder?
Why can’t I manage to work? Why must I take photos in the Jardin des Plantes? Why does a researcher search? What is proof?
