Who can enter?
The LIDF Photography competition is open to anyone and to all ages and consists of two categories: general and student (16-26 years).
The competition is open to all nationalities.
Your photographs may have been taken at anytime between 31st January 2007 and 31st January 2012.

How do I enter the competition?
Step 1. Complete the on-line Entry Form
Step 2. Make your entry payment
Step 3. You will then receive your entry confirmation e-mail, unique entry reference number, and instructions as to how to upload your photos for judging
How many photographs can I submit?
You can submit up to 10 images. Your photographs can have been taken anytime between 31st January 2007 and 31st January 2012.
Photographs must meet the ‘Photograph Requirements’ described below.
How much is the entry fee?
The competition entry fee is £7.00
Each submission must be accompanied by the appropriate Entry Fee.
How do I pay the Entry Fee?
Your Entry Fee may be paid on-line when you submit your Entry Form.
All payments must be in UK sterling. No cash payment or foreign currency is accepted. Photographs submitted with the incorrect entry fee will be disqualified. Entry Fees are non refundable.
When is the deadline for entries?
31st January 2012.
What are the prizes?
1st Prize: Your image to be the poster of the LIDF 2012. Plus, a Canon EOS 1100D (or cash equivalent).
1st Prize (Student Category 16-26 years) Your image to be the programme cover of the LIDF 2012. Plus, a Canon EOS 1100D (or cash equivalent).
2nd Prize: To be one of 3 holding images used on-screen before and after every screening at the LIDF and included in the festival programme. Plus, a Canon Powershot SX150 IS.
10 Runners-up will have their photographs published on the festival website
All winning entries will be published on the LIDF website with full credits, each winning entrant will receive a LIDF2012 festival pass, and an invitation to the Festival Opening and Closing Night Galas.
What are the photograph requirements?
Format can be Landscape or Portrait
Image can be in colour or black and white
File format for judging must be JPEG
Maximum file size 7MB
There is no equipment restriction
Please make sure you keep your originals as they will be needed if you are a winning entry
Can I submit a photograph that has previously won a competition or award?
No
How will the entries be judged?
The entries will be judged according to how well they fulfill the original brief. Winners will be selected by a panel including:
Kate Edwards (Picture Editor, Guardian Weekend Magazine)
Kate Edwards has been the picture editor of the Guardian Weekend magazine since 2002. Prior to the Guardian Kate worked on the Buenos Aires Herald and in photo agencies in both London and Buenos Aires. She has judged a number of international photo competitions and participated in portfolio reviews at photography festivals around the world.
Nick Cunard (http://www.nickcunard.co.uk) Nick specialises in location portraiture, human interest feature stories, successfully pitching picture led feature stories direct to national/international editorial, longer term documentary flavored projects for print, web and exhibition, stills and moving images plus words. He is owner at Nick Cunard : Stills Moving, partner at CHI-photo, and contributor at Eyevine.

Frede Spencer (Founder of the Twenty Twenty Agency)
Born in Denmark 1973, Frede Spencer studied photography in Denmark before moving to England in 1996 to do a BA in Photography at Nottingham Trent. He moved to London in 2000 and started working at Katz Pictures, before moving to Corbis in summer 2004 as an assignment photo editor/agent. Frede now runs his own photographic agency, Twenty Twenty Agency, which represents editorial and commercial photographers. He’s interested in seeing editorial, advertising and portrait images.
When will winners be notified?
Winning entries will be notified no later than February 28th 2012.
Who owns the copyright to the photographs submitted?
Entrants retain ownership of all intellectual property rights in the entry. The LIDF will not commercially exploit the Photographs.
